This year is the 10th anniversary of the original release of Kerbal Space Program, the space flight simulation game that has become a worldwide phenomenon and is responsible for inspiring countless “we can do that” moments.
For the past ten years, the Kerbal Space Program has been a labor of love by one dedicated, determined team of developers determined to create a truly open, modifiable, and moddable space flight simulator. Today, the game is bigger, more popular, and more extensive than ever before, and KSP is even more fun than ever. Over the past year, KSP has seen its player count skyrocket, and so much of that growth can be attributed to the game’s extensive modding community. Mods have been a big part of KSP since the game’s early days, and have grown to become one of the game’s most interesting facets. With each passing year, more and more people are adding more and more mods to the game
Kerbal Space Program, the detailed and addictive space flight simulator created by indie game developer Squad, has reached its 10th birthday today. While the milestone marks a decade of space building, it also serves as a time to reflect on the future of the game. Squad is in the process of developing the next major update, which will move the game into the year 2023 and introduce new community-requested features while retaining the game’s core principles. The update is slated for release in the first half of 2019, and will be free to all players.
Kerbal Space Program has reached its 10th anniversary, and after a series of updates and countless patches, it’s time for the development team to move forward with the production of the sequel, Kerbal Space Program 2.
But before that happens, the team is releasing the latest update to KSP, called 1.12 On Final Approach.
